About ALDI
ALDI is one of America's fastest-growing grocery retailers, operating more than 2,300 stores across 39 states and supporting that store network through a system of large-scale regional distribution centers. Founded in Germany in 1946 and first opened in the United States in 1976, ALDI built its entire business around a simple idea: run a lean, efficient operation and pass the savings directly to the customer. That same efficiency-first philosophy defines how our distribution centers operate — smaller, more capable teams; real cross-training instead of narrow, repetitive tasks; heavy investment in modern material handling and voice-directed technology; and wages built to attract and retain the strongest warehouse talent in every region we serve. ALDI's distribution network moves millions of cases of product every week, and every associate, operator, technician, and leader inside that network plays a direct role in keeping store shelves stocked for the millions of customers who shop with us.
Our Warehouse Team & Culture
Because ALDI runs a lean staffing model at every level of the business, warehouse team members are trusted with real responsibility from day one rather than being confined to a single narrow task for years. Safety, accuracy, and pace are treated as equally important — we invest in modern equipment, structured training, and a genuinely team-based floor culture where associates, operators, technicians, and leaders work side by side rather than in silos. ALDI also promotes heavily from within: a large share of our warehouse supervisors and distribution center managers started their ALDI careers on the warehouse floor.
What Our Team Says (Employee Reviews)
"The variety is what keeps me here. One shift I am unloading trailers, the next I am replenishing pick zones. It is physical, no question, but the team is tight and the wage beat every warehouse job I looked at in the area." - Current Warehouse Associate, Houston, TX.
Role Overview
As an ALDI Warehouse Associate, you rotate across the core functions of the distribution center during a single shift — unloading inbound trailers, replenishing pick zones, staging and building outbound pallets, and supporting general warehouse cleanliness and organization. ALDI trains associates across multiple functions rather than locking anyone into a single repetitive task, so no two shifts look exactly the same.
Key Responsibilities
- Inbound Unloading & Put-Away: Unload cases and pallets from inbound trailers by hand or with pallet jack assistance, scanning and staging each pallet for put-away into the correct storage location without delay to the receiving schedule.
- Pick Zone Replenishment: Monitor and refill pick zone slots throughout the shift from bulk storage, prioritizing fast-moving items and preventing a zone from running empty during active order selection.
- Order Staging & Pallet Building: Assist in staging completed pallets in the correct outbound door lane, and build pallets to ALDI's load stability standard when covering selection or loading tasks.
- Quality & Damage Checks: Inspect product for damage, mislabeling, or expiration issues at any touchpoint in the process, and immediately quarantine any flagged item rather than letting it continue through the flow.
- General Warehouse Support: Keep aisles, dock areas, and break areas clear and organized throughout the shift, and support sanitation or inventory tasks as directed by the shift supervisor.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Ability to regularly lift, carry, push, or pull up to 55 pounds without assistance.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and reach for extended periods throughout a full shift.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, physically active environment, including in temperature-controlled cooler or freezer zones as assigned.
- High school diploma or GED preferred, but not required — ALDI provides full on-the-job training.
- Prior warehouse or distribution center experience is a plus but is not required.
- Reliable attendance and ability to work a flexible schedule, including early mornings, evenings, and occasional weekends.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
This role is based entirely inside a large distribution center and includes extended periods of standing, walking, lifting, and repetitive motion, with some tasks performed in refrigerated or freezer-temperature zones. Personal protective equipment is provided and required in designated areas. The pace is fast and physically demanding but is supported by proper equipment, structured breaks, and a team-based floor culture.
Compensation & Benefits
ALDI Warehouse Associates earn a starting hourly wage that is highly competitive with other distribution employers in the region, with additional shift differentials available for select schedules. Full-time associates are eligible for paid time off, a 401(k) with company match, and medical, dental, and vision coverage, along with a defined advancement path toward Order Selector, Forklift Operator, and Warehouse Supervisor roles.
