About ALDI
ALDI is one of America's fastest-growing grocery retailers, operating more than 2,300 stores across 39 states and supporting that store network through a system of large-scale regional distribution centers. Founded in Germany in 1946 and first opened in the United States in 1976, ALDI built its entire business around a simple idea: run a lean, efficient operation and pass the savings directly to the customer. That same efficiency-first philosophy defines how our distribution centers operate — smaller, more capable teams; real cross-training instead of narrow, repetitive tasks; heavy investment in modern material handling and voice-directed technology; and wages built to attract and retain the strongest warehouse talent in every region we serve. ALDI's distribution network moves millions of cases of product every week, and every associate, operator, technician, and leader inside that network plays a direct role in keeping store shelves stocked for the millions of customers who shop with us.
Our Warehouse Team & Culture
Because ALDI runs a lean staffing model at every level of the business, warehouse team members are trusted with real responsibility from day one rather than being confined to a single narrow task for years. Safety, accuracy, and pace are treated as equally important — we invest in modern equipment, structured training, and a genuinely team-based floor culture where associates, operators, technicians, and leaders work side by side rather than in silos. ALDI also promotes heavily from within: a large share of our warehouse supervisors and distribution center managers started their ALDI careers on the warehouse floor.
What Our Team Says (Employee Reviews)
"Running a shift means owning the whole flow - I am checking selector pick rates against the shift plan, making sure the dock doors are loading on schedule, and coaching my team through issues as they come up. ALDI backs supervisors with real decision-making authority and a salary that reflects it." - Current Warehouse Supervisor, Loxley, AL.
Role Overview
As an ALDI Warehouse Supervisor, you lead a team of order selectors, forklift operators, and dock associates through a full distribution center shift - translating the day's shipping plan into an executed shift, monitoring performance against target, and enforcing the safety standards that keep a high-volume warehouse floor running smoothly.
Key Responsibilities
- Shift Staffing & Task Planning: Build the shift's labor assignment plan against the day's shipping volume, balancing selection, loading, and receiving coverage, and adjusting staffing in real time as volume or absences require.
- Performance Monitoring: Track real-time productivity and accuracy metrics for the team against shift targets using the warehouse management system dashboard, identifying underperforming zones and redeploying labor before a gap threatens on-time shipping.
- Safety Leadership: Conduct rolling safety walks across the pick zones and dock area throughout the shift, correcting unsafe equipment operation or blocked emergency egress immediately, and documenting any incident according to ALDI's safety reporting standard.
- Associate Coaching & Development: Provide direct, on-the-floor coaching to associates and operators, addressing performance or safety issues in the moment and identifying high performers ready for advancement into Forklift Operator or Team Lead roles.
- Cross-Functional Coordination: Coordinate with the transportation, inventory control, and receiving teams to resolve any issue affecting the shift's shipping schedule, escalating capacity or equipment constraints to the Distribution Center Manager as needed.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Prior supervisory or team lead experience in a warehouse, distribution, or manufacturing environment strongly preferred.
- Associate's or bachelor's degree in logistics, supply chain, or business preferred but not required with equivalent experience.
- Strong working knowledge of warehouse management systems and voice-directed picking technology.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate a team in a fast-paced, metrics-driven environment.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for coaching associates and coordinating with other departments.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, early mornings, and weekends as the shift rotation requires.
- Working knowledge of OSHA safety standards applicable to warehouse and powered industrial truck operations.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
This role requires regular time on the active warehouse floor alongside time reviewing performance data and coordinating with other departments. Supervisors are expected to be mobile throughout the shift, moving between pick zones, the dock, and the office as operational needs require, including exposure to temperature-controlled zones.
Compensation & Benefits
ALDI Warehouse Supervisors receive a competitive salary reflecting the scope of shift leadership responsibility, along with paid time off, a 401(k) with company match, and full medical, dental, and vision benefits. This role sits on ALDI's direct advancement path into Distribution Center Manager and broader regional logistics leadership positions.
